A Tribe Called Quest Worked w/ Kendrick Lamar, Andr̩ 3000, Jack White On New Album
A Tribe Called Quest will release their first album in nearly 20 years on November 11th. We Got It From Here, Thank You for Your Service was recorded before fellow member Phife Dawg passed away in March. The album features all four members of the hip-hop collective: Q-Tip, Jarobi White, Phife, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad. However, since this is poised to be their final album, they're going all out. They recruited some top talent that will assist on the album. This includes Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John, Consequence, Andr̩ 3000 and Busta Rhymes.
That's a fantastic lineup. Q-Tip told The New York Times that Jack White first met when White invited him onstage to perform Excursions during a 2015 concert at Madison Square Garden.
We recorded so many tracks and ideas, Q-Tip told The Times. It۪s one of those scenarios where we۪re so excited to finally get to work together that it was exploding in a whole different direction. We really didn۪t know what we were doing, it was just a hurry up and press record۪ kind of moment. He just took a guitar off the wall and plugged it in and just got his wizard on.
Jack White recently produced a song on Beyonce's Lemonade - "Don't Hurt Yourself." He's an extremely versatile artist and producer, so this is no surprise. Also, the thought of Kendrick and Andr̩ being on this Tribe Called Quest album is phenomenally exciting.

Q-Tip was still putting in work on the project, even after Phife's death.
It۪s so hard for me to sit in there and hear his voice, Q-Tip said. Sometimes I just have to like take a break and walk away. It gets heavy. It doesn۪t necessarily get sad, it just gets heavy. I literally feel the energy from him when I hear his voice.
We Got It From Here, Thank You for Your Service is due out November 11th.
